Come to "Bluebonnet
Country" . . . Visit Bellville, just 13 miles
north of I-10 on Hwy 36. As county seat of Austin County,
Bellville serves as governmental center of the area in
addition to being home to many agricultural interests. The
coming of the Santa Fe Railroad spurred Bellville's growth
in 1880, moving it from sleepy agricultural community to
transportation hub.
Today
Bellville has grown to 3800 residents who love the rural,
family-oriented flavor of the area. Many Bellvillians
commute to Houston for employment, 60 miles to the east.
Bellville is known for its churches, the Austin County Fair,
antique shops, and Victorian homes.
